Carl Lauer, Our Talents - Our Future’s founder and director.

For him, managing Our Talents - Our Future is voluntary work in his "spare" time. His profession is something very different: He is director of a small software and consultancy company that specialises in learning management systems and e-learning for international companies. Although he is the son of German parents, he grew up mostly in Italy and, in an educational experiment of his father, left school there when he was 13 years old. He then studied almost completely by himself until he was admitted to the University of Oxford, from which he obtained a good first degree in a combination of natural sciences and economics. He worked for several international companies based in the UK, currently lives in Berlin and has visited Ukraine regularly since 2004. Besides his mother tongue German, he speaks English, Italian, French, a little Russian and is learning Ukrainian. He is married, has a son and a stepson.

His wife Elena Lauer, a native Russian speaker and qualified lawyer and interpreter, also gives up much of her free time to help in many aspects of Our Talents – Our Future.

She has been a Senior Inspector of the Department for International Affairs of Kyiv National Linguistic University and a lecturer of the French language at the same university since 2013. She received a Bachelor's degree with honours in French language and literature and a Master with honours in French and English philology and foreign literature, both from Kyiv National Linguistic University.

She is deputy director and physics teacher at the Slovyansk Pedagogical Lyceum.

To help us work more effectively with the parents of our pupils, we have a parents’ representative both in Kiev and in Slovyansk.
